وعن أنس بن مالك عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: طلب الحلال واجب على كل مسلم . رواه الطبراني في الاوسط وإسناده حسن . (مجمع الزوائد للهيثمي:4/ 143)
Hazrat Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “Seeking Halaal is a duty binding on every Muslim.”
This hadith shows that it is compulsory and mandatory for a Muslim to seek and earn halal. Some other traditions also contain similar teachings although the words are different. Some of such narrations are as under:
- 1. Hazrat Abdullah Bin Mas’ood (May Allah be pleased with him) reports that seeking Halaal is an obligation like other obligations.
- 2. Another tradition goes thus: “Seeking Halaal is Fard (Obligatory) for every Muslim.”
It must be borne in mind that not only the livelihood of a Muslim must be halal, it is also obligatory that the products and services on which it is spent are also Halaal, Tayyeb, and permissible.
